Abstract

Cancer of colon and rectum, often referred to as colorectal cancer, is a life-threatening type of malignancy. Colon cancer is estimated to affect 135,000 people every year in the US, leading to approximately 55,000 deaths. In addition to its high mortality rates, colon cancer is the cause of significant morbidity for the affected individuals.
