Abstract One
would expect that a trait like eye color should remain constant throughout the
person's lifetime, but many people experience eye color changes: slight or very
obvious. Various factors can cause change of eye color in humans. The majority of children have some eye color change after the
birth. Typically, newborns have blue eyes, which change to green, light
blue, light brown and dark brown, as they grow older. It is thought that
exposure to light after birth triggers the production of melanin in the iris of
the eye. By three years of age, the eyes produce and store enough melanin
